Browser extension
With the extension you can say "open this site through that VPN / that server" while browsing. It exists for Chrome (Edge, Brave) and Firefox.
Installation
- In quickssh, tick Run the bridge together with quickssh in the Settings → Browser extension card.
- Load the extension into the browser. - Chrome: turn on Developer mode on
chrome://extensionsand pick the extension folder with Load unpacked. - Firefox: onabout:debugging#/runtime/this-firefox, pick themanifest.jsonfile with Load Temporary Add-on. - Copy the pairing key from the card and paste it into the extension's settings page (Ayarlar).
If you don't use the interface, start the bridge with quickssh bridge and see the key with quickssh bridge --token.
Routing a site
Open the site and press the extension icon. Choose the target in the This site (Bu site) section:
- VPN profile: the site opens from inside that VPN. If the VPN is down, you can start it from the extension.
- SSH session: the site opens through that server; handy for internal addresses the server can reach.
- Your own proxy: a SOCKS5 or HTTP proxy you added on the My proxies (Proxy'lerim) tab.
The including subdomains (Alt alan adlarıyla birlikte) option saves the rule as *.acme.com. You can see and remove all rules on the Rules (Kurallar) tab.
Lock and master password
If the records are locked, the extension asks for the master password. Unless you tick remember until the bridge closes (quickssh köprüsü kapatılana kadar hatırla), the password is forgotten after five minutes without use. When you lock the app, the extension locks too.
Security
- The bridge is reachable only from this computer (127.0.0.1) and requires the pairing key. A web page can't talk to the bridge.
- No password or key reaches the browser; the extension sees record names and proxy addresses.
- If the target is unavailable, the site doesn't open. While the VPN is down, a site with a rule is not requested over the open network.
- What the extension does (unlocking, opening a proxy, starting a VPN) is written to the audit log.
- You can change the key with Renew in quickssh; extensions paired with the old key have to be paired again.
